Jessica Landry-Jacobs

June 19, 1987 — February 11, 2023

Jessica Ann Landry-Jacobs, 35, passed away after a fierce fight with cancer on February 11, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Jessica was born June 19, 1987 in Galveston, Texas to parents, Robert O’Connor and Debra Ortez O’Connor.

Jessica graduated from Barbers Hill High School in 2006. She was an amazing and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Jessica was the perfect picture of the "stay-at-home" mom and loved that role. She loved unconditionally and was loved by so many, family, and friends. She never met a stranger. She had a way with her kindness and smile. However, your opinion of how she dressed, what she drove, and social status was unimportant to her. She always walked with her head held up high.

Jessica’s favorite, Hunter, named chunky butt by her, she often referred to him as her cancer baby. She was diagnosed with leukemia on the day he was born. Jessica fought a very long, grueling hard battle with cancer. She faced every obstacle fiercely for the sake of her children.

Jessica loved unconditionally and beyond all faults. She had a very forgiving heart. She loved and respected her grandma Hazel even the crazy Cajun hot tempered side. Her wish to be buried as close to her as possible will be fulfilled.

Growing up as a child she ate plenty of hamburger helper and ramen noodles. As an adult, she was not ever going to eat either one again. She had a deep love for her aunt’s gumbo as well as some of her favorite foods were boiled crawfish, Reese’s peanut butter cups, pistachio, and m&ms which she loved collecting m&m collectibles. Some of her favorite drinks were monster coffee, twisted tea, and cokes. Her favorite color was blue.

Her favorite pastime was coloring with Hazelle. As well as playing legos with Garett. She loved watching movies outside with Gary and the kids. She loved the outdoors and going to the beach with her family and celebrating her birthday every year.

Gary was the love of her life for twenty plus years. Their relationship was not always perfect, they were perfect for each other. We all knew who was in charge. She would give him a good cussing, he knew when to shut up.

Her favorite pet of all time was her Pomeranian foxy.

Jessica was preceded in death by her grandmother, Hazel Ortez and grandfather, Gilbert Ortez,Sr.; grandfather-in-law, Frank Whitfield; uncles, Patrick McCrory, Gilbert "Tuffy" Ortez, Jr., Roy Tevay and Robert Tevay, Jr.
