Obituary for Jewel C. Gentry Waters
Jewel C. Gentry Waters, age 84, of Cleveland, peacefully passed away on July 23, 2025, just one day shy of her 85th birthday.
Jewel was born on July 24, 1940, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late James Thomas Gentry and Rosa Ann Creek. She spent the last 50 years of her life in Cleveland, where she built a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories.
A spirited and kind-hearted woman, Jewel enjoyed simple pleasures—playing games like Sequence and Uno, collecting Boyd's Bears, and traveling the open road in an RV with her late husband of 50 years, David Waters. Family was her heart. She was the organizer behind many cherished family reunions, bringing generations together with her warmth and dedication.
Jewel is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Waters; her daughter, Lana Lamb; grandson, Dusty Lamb; her parents; and siblings: Alma Meadows, Alvie Gentry, Audry Gaw, Allene Landis, Pearl Butler, James Gentry, Gwen Pruitt, Pauline Gardner, and Joe Gentry.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Hoover; grandchildren, Zach Files, and Tyler Lamb and his wife, Hatti; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Connor, William, Axel, and Ruger.
Jewel’s strength, sense of humor, and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. At this time, no services are scheduled.
God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you
And whispered. “Come with me.”
With tear-filled eyes we watched
her suffer and fade away
Although we loved her deeply,
we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
