Jimmie Clarice Doss

Jimmie Clarice Doss, age 89, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. She was born on September 30, 1936, in Linden, Texas, to Julian Cero Doss and Bonnie Mae Barnett.

Clarice was a woman of Christian faith whose life was centered on love, family, and simple joys. She was known for her beauty, grace, and strength. These qualities shone through in the way she cared for others and carried herself throughout her life. She shared 30 wonderful years with Neville Franssen, and together they built a life filled with adventure and companionship. Clarice especially cherished their travels to the mountains, whether in Western Canada, Utah, or Colorado, anywhere with scenic peaks brought her happiness.

Clarice also had a remarkable professional career. She retired from the Telecheck company after many years of dedicated service. She began her career when the company was still a local Houston operation and remained with them as it expanded nationwide throughout the 1980s and 1990s. As one of their top marketing professionals, she consistently earned annual awards as the leading national producer. Though offered opportunities to move into upper management, Clarice chose to remain in marketing, valuing the independence and flexibility it gave her to manage her own time. She retired in 2015, going on to enjoy a well-deserved and comfortable retirement.

She found joy in the quiet pleasures of life as well. Clarice was an avid reader, a devoted fan of crossword puzzles, and rarely missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. She also had a well-known talent for bargain hunting, rarely paying full price and always avoiding shipping fees whenever possible. Above all, she treasured time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her beloved daughter, Valarie Richert.

She is survived by her loving husband, Neville Franssen; her daughter, Sherri Mauceli and husband Michael; her son-in-law, Tom Richert and his mother Barbara “Barb” Richert; as well as Clarice’s grandchildren, Natalie Kelinske and husband Mike, Scott Richert and wife Allison, and Madelyn Elizabeth Mauceli; and her great-grandchildren, Caroline Kelinske, Claire Kelinske, Arthur Richert, and Barbara June Richert.

A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 30, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Middleton Chapel at the church, with Pastor Clayton Hall officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tom Richert, Neville Franssen, Mike Mauceli, Greg Edwards, Scott Richert, and Mike Kelinske.

Clarice will be remembered for her warmth, her wit, her love of family, and her ability to find joy in both grand adventures and everyday moments. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
