Jimmy Dwayne Oakley

Jimmy Dwayne Oakley, also known to most everyone as ‘Jimbo’, drowned tragically in Lake Livingston in a heroic attempt to retrieve his boat during a horrific storm that swept through on Tuesday May 28, 2024 in Coldspring, Texas. As per his personal  wishes, he was cremated. He was born on September 11, 1961 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Jimmy Larry Oakley and Willa Belle O'Rear. He graduated from New Caney High School in 1979. He worked in the construction industry for the majority of his adult life, starting as a custom home framer, and later excelled to becoming a Supervisor, and then on to be a Project Manager, and ended his career as an Estimator working as a Subcontractor for Velocity Services Group, who specializes in disaster relief and restoration repairs from natural disasters.

Our beloved Jimbo, to know him is to unequivocally love him with his infectious smile, laugh and untamed spirit. He had such a larger-than-life presence that not one person he met could forget in turn making so many friends throughout the years that have endured a lifetime. He was the true definition of unyielding strength physically and mentally and wouldn't hesitate to protect the ones he loved and did. A fearless man living boldly and loving deeply with so much courage and tenacity, he as a person was unmatched. Jimbo will be profoundly missed, but impossibly forgotten.

Preceded in death by his parents Jimmy Larry Oakley and Willa Belle Rountree. Also his brothers Jackie Wayne Oakley and Johnny Thomas Oakley.

He is survived by his devoted wife Melissa Oakley of 30 years; daughters, Katie Vestal along with her husband, Donnie and 2 grandchildren, Tripp and Macie and Brittany Wooten along with her husband, Johnny and 4 grandchildren, Aaliyah, Karson, Emery and Sienna; sister, Julie Stifflemire along with her husband, Curtis; brother, James Allen Culver; nieces and nephews, their children and many friends.
