John William Drennan passed away peacefully in Kingwood, Texas on July 12, 2025, just two days shy of his 80th birthday. He was born on July 14, 1945, in Houston, Texas to George Ervin Drennan and Myra Cropper Drennan.
John honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, embodying the strength and commitment that helped shape his life. Following his military service, he built a successful 37-year career with Union Pacific Railroad before retiring.
A man of many interests, John found joy in hunting and gardening, but his greatest passion was softball. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family, who were the center of his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
John is preceded in death by his parents, George and Myra Drennan. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Dorothy Drennan; his daughter, Leslie Robertson, and her husband Jeremy; and his grandchildren, Seth and Kara Robertson. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert Drennan, and his wife Roberta.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Jimmie Charles. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Davis, Robert Drennan, Kendrick Harmon, Thomas Holmes, Seth Robertson, and Jeremy Robertson. Kara Robertson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
John’s legacy of love, service, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
