John Atmar Gibson

John Atmar Gibson, 77, was born on October 27, 1948, in Dilley, Texas, to Oscar Fred Gibson and Pauline Elizabeth Rasey. He passed away on December 21, 2025.

John was a man who found joy in the simple things he loved most. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and enjoyed playing his guitar whenever he could. He especially cherished time spent with his loyal dog, Pookie. John also loved fishing, working on cars, and being outdoors. 

Family was at the center of John’s life. He took great pride in coaching his children in basketball, football, and soccer, always offering encouragement, patience, and support from the sidelines. His dedication to his family and community left a lasting impression on all who knew him. John was a resident of Kenefick, Texas, for 42 years and was formerly of Pasadena, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Brenda Gibson, and by his parents. John is survived by his sons, Shawn Gibson and his wife Gail, and Shane Gibson; and his grandchildren, Lilah Gibson, Dani Gibson, Kaily Moncla, and Luke Moncla.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Palms Memorial Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
