Jose Juan Maqueda, 23, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on July 6, 2025. He was born on September 12, 2001, in Houston, Texas, to Roel Maqueda and Martha Garza.
Jose was a proud graduate of Dayton High School and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Liberty. Known for his warm spirit and lively personality, Jose brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. He had a deep love for music, especially the songs of Katy Perry, which he often enjoyed through his headphones.
Jose also had a fondness for the simple pleasures in life—picante sauce and chips, naps, and watching his favorite show, Gilmore Girls. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, he was social and loved engaging in conversation.
Jose’s love for animals, especially potbelly pigs, was a unique and cherished part of his life. He found great joy in raising them and giving them the care and affection they deserved.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lauro Garza and Guadalupe Gandaria Garza.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Roel Maqueda and Martha Garza; his brothers, Roel Maqueda and wife Anna, Felix Maqueda and wife Hannah, and Lauro Maqueda; his sisters, Krystyn Madrigales and husband Benjamin, and Laura Maqueda and Edwin Martinez; as well as his beloved nieces and nephew: Khloe, Evie, Aria, Hope, April, and Benjamin.
Jose’s vibrant spirit, kind heart, and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held for Jose, Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas with a service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery, Dayton.
