Joseph Edward Banning

Joseph Edward Banning, age 63, passed away on December 28, 2025. He was born on October 16, 1962, in Pensacola, Florida, to Owen Eugene Kersh and Sandra Lee Shipman.

Joseph was a proud United States Marine, a service that reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment. Throughout his life, he worked as a truck driver and a carpenter, careers that showcased his work ethic, skill, and dedication. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Texas, where he built his life and was well known by many.

Joseph was an avid collector, especially of coins and stamps. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and bowling—simple pleasures that brought him happiness and lasting memories with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents J.E. and Ruby Shipman; his father, Bobby Derville Banning; and his siblings, Jay Douglas Banning and Jody Gayle Banning.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Sandy Banning, his loving children, son Bobby Banning and wife Tracy, and daughter Joey Banning; his sisters, Juliene Harrod and husband Gene, and Jonnie Banning; and his cherished grandchildren, Kali Banning and Kameron Banning.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. A Memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m., also at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Joseph will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his family, and the quiet joys that defined his life.
