Joseph Dale McWilliams May 7, 1948 – October 18, 2025
Joseph Dale McWilliams, 77, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025. Born on May 7, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Joseph David McWilliams and Verna Mae Beavers McWilliams
Dale spent his early years in Homestead, Pennsylvania, before moving to Kissimmee and later Moore Haven, Florida, where he attended high school. He lived in Baytown before settling in Dayton 26 years ago, where he built a life filled with music, laughter, and family ties. Dale was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, who was proud of his service.
A passionate lover of music, Dale played guitar in a band for many years and was often the life of the party. His quick wit, sense of humor, and vibrant personality earned him the nickname “Crazy Uncle Dale” from his many nieces and nephews. Whether he was telling jokes, playing pool, dancing with his daughter Shannon, or cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and the Houston Texans, Dale embraced life with joy and heart.
He loved backyard barbeques and long nights spent around the bonfire with family and friends. His loyal dogs, Sandy and Buttons, were constant companions and dearly loved.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Sharon Partin, Della Ward and JoAnne Bass. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon McWilliams; brothers, Jeff McWilliams and Clayton McWilliams; sister, Dian Raulerson; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to Dale’s heart.
Dale will be remembered for his music, his laughter, and the unconditional love he gave to those lucky enough to know him.
