Joseph “Joe” Arnold Powell, 76, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on July 15, 2025. Born on July 9, 1949, in Wichita Sedgwick, Kansas. Joe was the beloved son of Melvin Cyrus Powell and Ruth Irene Bivens.
A true American patriot, Joe dedicated his life to family, faith, and freedom. With a deep passion for his craft, he was a licensed gunsmith through the ATF and took great pride in his work, always striving for excellence and precision. His love for firearms reflected his dedication to the rights and values he held dear.
Above all, Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Jessica Jo Powell-Chimeme; and all of his siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years of marriage, Sandra Powell; daughters Tracy Neely and husband Robert, Connee Powell, Shannon Maxwell and husband Michael, and Heather Powell. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Samantha, Joshua, Desiree, Trent, Dean, Victoria, Isaac, Jasmine, Mikayla, Seth, Bryce, Isaiah, Chase, Blake, Kaleb, and Lincoln; and his great-grandchildren: Bryson, Derrek, Alton, Lenny, Cecil, Valentine, Alexander, and Zeke.
Joe will be remembered for his strong spirit, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
