Joseph Allen Ruby, 76, of Channelview, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026.
Joseph was born on July 13, 1949, in San Diego, Texas, to Benjamin Ruby and Bessie Louise Adams. He was a devoted Catholic whose faith remained an important part of his life.
A longtime resident of Channelview for 54 years, Joseph previously lived in Hondo, Texas. He was a true outdoorsman who found his greatest peace in nature. He cherished time spent deer hunting at his lease in Kenefick and fishing whenever he had the chance. Whether in the woods before sunrise or by the water with rod in hand, Joseph was at home outdoors.
Known as a jack of all trades, Joseph was a skilled welder, mechanic, and machinist. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed action movies in his younger years, and later in life, he found simple joy in watching and faithfully recording his favorite soap operas.
Family was the cornerstone of Joseph’s life. He was deeply devoted to those he loved and took pride in providing, protecting, and supporting them. A firm believer in his principles, he was also a passionate Second Amendment advocate who stood strong in his convictions.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald Ruby; his sister, Nancy Sherman; and his brothers, Jim Ruby and Jeff Ruby.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lillian Ruby; his son, Anthony Ruby and wife Stephanie; his brother, Raymond Eichel and wife Cheryle; his sister, Linda Kathleen Jenkins; his grandchildren, Sean Ruby, Karen Ruby Webb and husband Kenneth, and Austin Ruby and wife Jordan; his great-grandchildren, Logan and Alexander Ruby; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Ryan Cemetery in Cleveland.
Joseph will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, his love of the outdoors, and above all, his unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
