Obituary for Judy Moor Edmonds

Judy Moor Edmonds, 80, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Born on October 28, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, Judy was the daughter of Halley Moor and Corine Rawlinson Moor. She was raised in Anahuac, where she graduated from Anahuac High School and later took college courses that furthered her lifelong commitment to learning and community service.

Judy called Anahuac home for 65 years, before moving closer to her daughter in Cypress. A lifelong member of the Anahuac Methodist Church, Judy's faith and love for her community guided her through every chapter of her life.

She worked alongside her beloved husband of 24 years, the late Charles Edmonds, at Edmonds Home Supply before embarking on a meaningful career as Chambers County Commissioner, serving with distinction for 10 years. A proud daughter and wife of rice farmers, Judy embraced her roots, whether driving an ambulance, bowling on the “Farmer’s Daughters” team, or achieving her celebrated "hole in one" on the golf course.

Judy's community remembers her as a woman of joy and grace. Since her passing, friends and neighbors have shared heartfelt tributes: “she had a sweet spirit,” “she always had a smile,” “she was a beautiful person inside and out,” “she was a blessing to so many,” “she was always cheerful and had an infectious laugh,” “she was the life of the party,” and “she made a lot of positive contributions to our community.” Above all, many simply said, “she was an incredible friend who touched so many lives.”

Judy’s greatest love was her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, finding joy in every gathering and milestone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Edmonds, and her son Shawn Edmonds.

She is survived by her loving children: son Clay Edmonds and wife Lisa, and daughter Kelly Barrett and husband Roy; her brother Halley Ray Moor and wife Sheila; her sister Janice Bradbury; her cherished grandchildren: Skylar Edmonds and Cameron Vige, Blake Barrett and wife Rylie, Carson Edmonds and fiancée Blayne Champlin, Conner Rozich and husband Brock, and Clay Michael Barrett and fiancée Sabrina Monteiro; and one beloved great-grandchild, Brooks Barrett.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the First Methodist Church of Anahuac. A service celebrating Judy’s life will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Lea officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include Blake Barrett, Clay Michael Barrett, Brock Rozich, Blayne Champlin, Cameron Vige, and Kyle Witherspoon.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Anahuac Cemetery Fund, in honor of Judy’s lifelong dedication to her community.

Judy’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
