Judy Ann Kadrmas

July 25, 1963 – October 28, 2026

Judy Ann Kadrmas was born on July 25, 1963, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Irvin D. Kadrmas and Martha Kostelecky Kadrmas.

Judy grew up on her family's ranch in the Killdeer/Fayette area of Dunn County, North Dakota, and attended school in Killdeer. At 16, she moved to Texas, where her sister Nancy and brother-in-law Dwight Lumpkins welcomed her and two of her sisters into their home. Together, they were raised alongside Nancy and Dwight's daughters, Jessica and Meranda, forming a close family bond that lasted throughout Judy's life.

Of all the roles Judy held throughout her life, none made her prouder than being a mother to her daughter, Shayanne Nicole McCoy, born January 24, 2002. The two shared an incredibly close bond that grew into a beautiful friendship as Shay got older. They talked multiple times a day about anything and everything, sharing life's biggest moments and the smallest details of their everyday lives. Judy was not only Shay's mother, but also her best friend, her biggest supporter, and the person she could always count on. Whether Shay needed advice, encouragement, a listening ear, or simply someone to talk to, Judy was always there.

Judy was known for her extraordinary patience, gentle spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to those around her. She had a special way of making people feel cared for, and her kindness was reflected not just in what she said, but in the way she lived and treated others.

Judy also shared a special bond with her great-nephew and great-niece, Anson and Karigan, whom she adored and treated as her own grandchildren. She found tremendous joy in being part of their lives, and her patience, playful spirit, and loving nature left a lasting impression, especially on Anson, whom she affectionately called her “best buddy.”

Judy's legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the memories she helped create, and the love she gave without hesitation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially those who were fortunate enough to share so much of life with her.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Shayanne Nicole McCoy; her eight siblings: Beverly J. Kadrmas (Wayne A. Hecker) of Dickinson, North Dakota; Nancy M. Lumpkins (Dwight) of Liberty, Texas; Jamie Villapando and Noreen Cook, both of Wichita, Kansas; Daphne Hecker (Ivan) of Killdeer, North Dakota; Amy V. Harvey (Albert) of Dayton, Texas; Leann E. Kadrmas of Clifton, Colorado; and Duane I. Kadrmas of Dickinson, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin D. Kadrmas and Martha Kostelecky Kadrmas; her siblings, Geraldine Kadrmas, Kimberly Kadrmas Moore, and Bruce A. Kadrmas; and her nephew, Jeremy Cook.

A memorial service honoring Judy's life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
