Larry Lee Lovell, age 68, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on April 19, 2025. Born December 18, 1956, in Rockford, Illinois to John Philip Lovell and Nancy Lee Owens, Larry lived a life marked by generosity, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Larry spent the last 39 years in Dayton and previously resided in Baytown. A proud outdoorsman, he much preferred open skies and wide fields to time indoors. His heart was especially tied to his property in Centerville, a place he dreamed of retiring to and called his own slice of country paradise.
A skilled electrician by trade, Larry was truly a jack-of-all-trades. Self-taught and hands-on, he had a knack for repairing anything broken—often with nothing more than a manual and his determination. He shared this knowledge with others during his time teaching instrumentation and electrical at Lee College. Larry was always on the move, tinkering with projects and helping wherever he could. He had a special place in his heart for animals, often taking in strays and lending a hand to any creature in need.
Larry was a simple, frugal man who cared deeply about others. He offered support freely to anyone going through tough times and lived by values of kindness, humility, and hard work. Among his greatest joys was watching his grandson play football—moments that brought him great pride and happiness.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lee Owens, and his sister, Linda Lovell. He is survived by his father, John Lovell; his son, Johnathan Lovell and wife Brittany; his daughter, Jennifer Harris and husband Justin; his beloved grandchildren, Randy Lovell, Madison Lovell, Edith Harris, and Holland Harris; and the mother of his children, Kathy Lovell.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Larry will be remembered for his generous spirit, his hands-on approach to life, and the quiet strength with which he cared for both people and animals alike. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and service.
