Lawrence Howard Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026. Born on February 11, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Lawrence was the son of Richard Travis Smith and Virgie Dee Tacker Smith. He spent many years in Pasadena and Crosby before making Dayton his home for the last seven years.
Lawrence had a passion for sports throughout his life. He was an avid college football fan and a devoted supporter of the University of Texas Longhorns. He also enjoyed the game of golf and spent many years playing whenever he had the opportunity. Lawrence loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting. Over the years, he embarked on several exotic hunting adventures, creating memories and stories that he loved to share with family and friends.
Above all else, Lawrence cherished the time he spent with his family. His greatest joy was his granddaughter, Raegan "Rae" Trichell. The moments they shared together were among his most treasured memories and brought him immense happiness.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Travis Smith and Virgie Dee Tacker Smith; his beloved wife, Peggy Elaine Smith; his children, Regina Smith and Ricky Smith; and his sister, Pam Smith.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Busser and Daniel Busser; his daughter, Shelby Smith Trichell and her husband, Colby Trichell; and his cherished granddaughter, Raegan "Rae" Trichell.
Lawrence will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for sports and the outdoors, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Forever loved, forever remembered.
