Lendy Ann Nelson, age 91, passed peacefully from this life on June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well lived. Born on April 27, 1935, to Charlie and Jessie Bohannan, Lendy was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched countless lives.
Lendy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Jessie Bohannan; her brothers, Joel Bohannan, Charlie Bohannan, Albert Bohannan, Lee Bohannan, and Richard Bohannan; her sisters, Verue Cates and Loma Stone; her beloved husband of 62 years, Andrew L. Nelson; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Holly Furlong.
She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her love and guidance, including her brother, Robert Bohannan; her children, Janice Mizell and husband Lonnie, Kathy Furlong and husband Jonathan, and Andy Nelson and wife Cristina. She was a proud grandmother to Bradley Furlong and wife Amy, Braxton Furlong, Kelly Brown and husband Tanner, Cris Nelson, and Andrew Nelson. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Lydia Furlong and Boaz Furlong. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and a host of dear friends.
A faithful member of the Tarkington Church of Christ, Lendy lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and service to others. She found great joy in cooking meals for family gatherings, sewing, gardening, and canning. Her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Her love was evident in everything she did, and the memories she created will be treasured for generations to come.
The Nelson family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Liz Wakefield and her staff for the loving care they provided to Lendy during the last eight years of her life. Special thanks are also extended to Pam Davis, R.N., for her compassionate and dedicated care.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in the blessing of having known and loved Lendy. Her unwavering love, gentle wisdom, and faithful example will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
