Lillian Marie Shannon Ruby, 77, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Highlands.
Born on August 14, 1948, to Eugene Shannon and Clara Mae Henderson, Lillian lived a life defined by love, kindness, and devotion to her family and community. She made her home in Channelview for the past 54 years, where she built lasting friendships and touched countless lives.
Lillian was married to the love of her life, Joseph Ruby, for 55 beautiful years before his passing just two weeks prior to hers. Their enduring love was an inspiration to all who knew them.
She had a lovely singing voice and a deep love for classic country music. Her favorites included Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette. Whether singing along at home or simply enjoying a favorite tune, music brought her great joy.
Lillian worked for many years in the cafeteria at Channelview Independent School District, where she faithfully served students and staff until her retirement. She was known for her warm smile, generous heart, and the way she could strike up a conversation with anyone. Friendly even to strangers, Lillian had a kind and joyful spirit that made everyone feel welcome.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Ruby; her parents; her brother, Don “Fireball” Shannon; her sister, Sharon Shannon; and her son, Ronald Ruby.
She is survived by her son, Anthony “Tiger” Ruby and wife Stephanie; Jimmy Shannon and wife Tammy; her grandchildren, Sean Ruby, Karen Ruby and husband Kenneth, Austin Allen Ruby and wife Jordan, Cody Nicolas Shannon, and Cobey Minton; her great-grandchildren, Logan Ruby and Alexander Ruby; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home - Dayton. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Ryan Cemetery, with Deacon Fred Lemond officiating.
Lillian’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
