Linda Sue Burney

Linda Sue Burney, 75, a long-time resident of Dayton, TX, passed away on January 1^st, 2024. She was born on December 18^th, 1948, to parents CJ Wood and Mary Halbert Wood.

After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, Linda made her passion for caring for others a lifelong career, working for over 30 years as a nurse. In her free time, Linda Sue was a true bookworm. She poured over her favorite books, whether that be westerns, sci-fi, or mystery books. She also liked to work on puzzles.

Above all else, Linda Sue loved her family, spending as much time as she could with them. She especially had a soft spot for her grandkids.

Linda Sue will be remembered for her vibrant personality. To honor this, those in attendance are welcomed to wear the color purple. 

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Lloyd Burney, who was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Also preceding her in death is her beloved granddaughter, Kayla Parrin; parents, CJ Wood and Mary Halbert Wood; brothers, Johnny Wood and Darral Wood; sister, Judy Thompson.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy Christopher and husband Daniel, Christopher Burney and wife Natasha; grandchildren, Nicholas and wife Tiffany, Kyle and wife Shelia, Tyler, Alexandra, Danielle; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Jacob, Kyleigh, Peyton, Cameron, Jentri, Kasyn; sisters, Jewel, Aline, Theresa.
