Linda Mcintyre

Mary Linda Remore McIntyre of Cleveland, Texas, formerly of Shepherd, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 21, 1940, in Winnsboro, Louisiana to C.J. and Ira Welch Remore. She was preceded in death by her son, David Milton McIntyre.
Linda was a homemaker for many years and completed her college education once her children were grown. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Spanish. She also completed a master’s degree in English. Linda taught for many years at Shepherd High School and Livingston Junior High School. She had a deep faith in God and taught Sunday School for most of her adult life. She loved her children and grandchildren. Linda was a wonderful cook, avid gardener, and accomplished china painter. In addition to the hospitality she extended at her home, she fed hundreds through the ministry she co-founded, Helping Hands Food Pantry in San Jacinto County.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, John Duncan McIntyre; son, John Mark McIntyre and wife, Alison Dean McIntyre, of Magnolia, Texas; daughter, Mary Virginia (Ginger) McIntyre Shears, of Goodrich, Texas; grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth McIntyre Duong, Duncan Thomas McIntyre, Margaret Lydia McIntyre, Mary Catherine McIntyre, and Lauren Elizabeth McIntyre; two brothers, one sister, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 22, 2017, from 5-8pm at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 10am at First Baptist Church, Shepherd, Texas, with burial at Farley Chapel Cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.
