Walter Lloyd Wells, born on September 9, 1939 at 9:09 weighing in at 9 lbs and 9 oz, in Conroe, Texas to Bunk and Gladys Wells. As one of five children, Lloyd faced adversity early, taking on the responsibility of caring for his family at just eight years old following his father's passing. His work ethic began in the woods, working with wild hogs to support his mother and siblings. A true testament and devotion to his mother and family.
At the tender age of seventeen, destiny entwined Lloyd's path with that of his soulmate and the love of his life, Lola Enloe. Their union, sealed on August 5, 1957, ushered in a partnership that would endure and flourish for sixty-seven remarkable years. Lloyd embarked on his professional journey in the oil fields, dedicating thirteen years to Big Bonus Stamp Co. as a truck driver while simultaneously contributing his skills at Burton Packing Co. in the processing of livestock.
In 1973, Lloyd's career took a transformative turn when he joined Shell Refinery in Deer Park, Texas, as a maintenance man under Brown & Root, where his hard work and dedication ultimately led him to the role of supervisor. After thirty plus rewarding years in the chemical plant industry, Lloyd sought new horizons by establishing his own logging business, where he continued to haul logs for various clients until his retirement at the age of sixty-five.
Yet, Lloyd’s legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. In tandem with his logging endeavors, he embraced the call to evangelize, embarking on journeys across the United States to preach the gospel. For over twenty-five years, Lloyd and Lola's ministry touched countless lives, inspiring faith and witnessing miracles through their profound devotion. Known affectionately as the "Preacher of Faith," Lloyd's sermons resonated with all who had the privilege to hear them, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Lloyd's fervent belief in the Lord's healing power and miracles instilled hope in those around him.
A devoted husband, father, papa, and friend, Lloyd’s family was the center of his universe. He loved to pick a lot, especially with the little ones. Lloyd also loved Blue Bell ice cream, and he loved to share ice cream with all the grands and great-grands. His passions extended into the great outdoors where he found joy in hog, deer, and squirrel hunting. Lloyd never met a stranger and eagerly offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Lloyd lived a life of dedication and love. He was a man of unwavering faith and boundless love.
On September 29, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family, Lloyd embraced his eternal rest. While our hearts ache with sorrow, we find solace in knowing that he has been made whole again. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Bunk and Gladys, siblings Hazel Pitts and Roy Wells, and cherished granddaughter Kendyl Burch.
