Lois Marie Jeansonne Plauché, 94, of Kenefick, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023 at Avoyelles Nursing Home in Dupont, LA. She was born on August 3, 1928 in Cottonport, Louisiana to Joseph Elgee Jeansonne and Victoria Ducote Jeansonne. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Plaucheville and married Philip Godwin Plauché in 1944. Marie and Godwin married June 8, 1946. They moved to Sulphur, Louisiana in 1946 and lived there for 48 years before relocating to Kenefick in 1994, where they resided for 13 years.
Lois Marie Plauché was a loving and generous woman who always cared for her family and friends. She welcomed many relatives and guests into her home and always had food ready for them. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and eating sweets, and worked in a bakery and later owned and operated a Mexican restaurant for some time. She also loved music and dancing and was a great partner to her husband on the dance floor.
Lois Marie Plauché was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Godwin Plauché; her parents; her 16 siblings; her daughter, Pamela Plauché; and her grandson, Lee Douglas Breaux. She is survived by her son, Philip John Plauché and his wife Vicki; her grandchildren, Dana Plauché Greathouse, John Paul Plauché and his wife Roya; her great-grandchildren, Kerry Greathouse, Aaron Greathouse, Rhiannon Breaux, Philip Breaux, Fara Plauché, Jack Plauché; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. There will be a prayer service Friday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Dayton with the burial at Linney Cemetery in Dayton.
