Lois Jean Stockwell, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Baytown, Texas, after a prolonged illness.

Lois was born on December 27, 1941, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, to William Samuel Ballinger and Alma Lois Dennis. She lived in Highlands, Texas for 55 years, where she built a full and vibrant life centered around family, creativity, and the outdoors.

She worked for many years as a beautician and took great pride in her profession. Lois was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed water skiing and dancing, always embracing life with energy and joy. Known by her family as a true “crafting queen,” Lois lovingly made quilts for each family member, creating cherished heirlooms that will be treasured for generations. She had a remarkable green thumb and found peace and happiness in her garden. A wonderful cook, her gumbo was a family favorite.

Above all, Lois deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—who were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Samuel Ballinger and Alma Lois Reneau; her husband, Kenneth Wayne Stockwell; her daughter, Debra Bassett; and her sister, Mary Griffin.

Lois is survived by her life partner, Gerald Flanagan; her sons, Darrell Stockwell and wife Becky, and David Stockwell and wife Karole; her brother, Jack Ballinger and wife Sandra; her sisters, Patsy Ward and husband Cliff, Marlene Blanco and husband David, Dixie Ballinger, and Debra Wilson and husband Dale.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alicia Grimes and husband Chris, Amber Jones and husband Seth, Kenneth Stockwell II and wife Jenn, Jared Hruby and wife Renee, Christina Dickerson and husband Keith, Joseph Stockwell and wife Kristen, and Genna Andrews and husband Adam; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown, Texas. Following the graveside service there will be food at the VFW Post 912, 8204 N. Main St. Baytown, 77521.

Lois Jean Stockwell will be remembered for her loving heart, creative spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family.
