Lolly Hickerson passed away on January 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She was born on May 26, 1961, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to her parents, Leo Burbin Rice and Patricia A. Chester.
A loving mother, sister, daughter, granny, and friend, Lolly had a heart as big as her personality—and both were impossible to miss. She was known for her quick wit, playful humor, and her ability to turn even the most ordinary moment into something funny. If something seemed too good to be true, you could count on Lolly to grin and say, “It’s a set up,” usually just before everyone burst into laughter.
Her joy was contagious, and her laughter had a way of lifting spirits, even on the toughest days. Lolly had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Eli, who was her constant sidekick, best friend, and partner in crime. Whether she was caring for a stray or spoiling her own pets, her compassion for animals was yet another reflection of her big heart.
Above all, Lolly cherished her family. She was a proud granny, a devoted mother, a loving daughter and sister, and a loyal friend. She showed up with open arms, a listening ear, and almost always a joke or two.
Lolly will be remembered not only for her kindness and love, but for the laughter she brought into every room. While her absence is deeply felt, her spirit lives on in every shared story, every smile, and every time someone says, “It’s a set up,” and laughs a little harder because of her.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
