Maria Luisa Rojas Cruz

Maria Luisa Rojas Cruz, 59, passed away on January 25, 2026, in Houston, Texas.

Maria was born on June 21, 1966, in Mexico to Mateo Rojas and Angela Cruz. She was of the Catholic faith and lived in Houston for the past 44 years, where she built a life centered on family and friendship.

Maria had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs, with a special place in her heart for Shorty. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, fishing, going out dancing, and meeting up with friends. Above all, Maria treasured time with her grandchildren and loved talking with her sisters, moments that brought her great joy and comfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 20 years, Gerardo Banda; her brothers Francisco Rojas and Nicolas Rojas; and her sister Elisa Urieta.

Maria is survived by her loving daughter Norma Aguilar and husband Arturo; her brothers Justino Rojas and Demecio Rojas and wife Berna; her sisters Angelita D. Garcia and husband George and Minerva Rojas and husband Virgilio; and her cherished grandchildren Emma Aguilar, Matthew Espinoza, and Ezekiel Aguilar.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Burial will take place afterward at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.
