Marianna
Howery Mitchell
December 19, 1931 — August 2, 2026
Wednesday
Magnolia Park Cemetery
Starts at 9:30 am
Marianna Mitchell, 94, died August 2, 2026, at her home in Dayton, Texas. Marianna was born on December 19, 1931, to Odie and Odessa Howery in Poteau, Oklahoma. She married Cecil Rhea Mitchell of Dayton, Texas, where they raised their three children: Cecil Rhea Jr., Craig, and Beth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1995. She is survived by her son, Cecil Rhea Jr. of Dayton; her son, Craig, and his wife, Nikki, of Houston; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Marianna was lovingly known as "Meme" to her grandchildren and family.
In these last years of her life on earth, her physical abilities diminished, but her influence increased as she became the matriarch of a large and loving family. She loved all of her children and grandchildren with a pure heart. Marianna spent most of her days in her favorite seat in the living room, where she "ruled" her family, all of whom visited often and loved to serve her. She was very health-conscious and readily advised her family to make healthy choices. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of the Liberty Church of Christ. As her family begins their futures without her, they will forever be marked by her love for them all.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
We will miss her greatly in countless ways. We will love you forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wounded Warriors or another veterans' charity of your choice.
