Marielia Ann
Babineaux Godfrey
September 12, 1954 — October 15, 2026
Marielia Ann Babineaux Godfrey, 72, passed away on October 15, 2026. She was born on September 12, 1954, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to George Babineaux and Mary Elike.
Marielia was a God-fearing woman whose faith was an important part of her life. She attended Time of Celebration Ministries in Cypress, where she enjoyed being part of her church community.
Marielia proudly served her country in the United States Army. She also dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her career in nursing. She began her journey in the nursing field and went on to work as a hospital nurse and later in physical therapy nursing. With over 40 years of service in the nursing profession, Marielia devoted her career to helping others, offering care, compassion, and comfort to those who needed it most. Her giving nature extended far beyond her profession and was reflected in the way she lived her everyday life.
Anyone who knew Marielia knew that she loved a good time. She enjoyed a party and was often the life of it, bringing her joyful personality wherever she went. She loved being surrounded by the people she cared about and had a way of making gatherings a little more special simply by being there.
Above all, Marielia was a family woman. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Her grandchildren lovingly described her as simply “the best,” a reflection of the special relationship she shared with them. She was generous by nature and loved giving to others, whether through a thoughtful gift or simply by showing how much she cared.
Marielia also enjoyed TikTok shopping and had plenty of fun finding new things to buy and share with those she loved. She lived her life fully and accomplished the things she set out to do. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, laughter, and, most importantly, a deep love for her family.
Marielia was preceded in death by her parents, George Babineaux and Mary Elike; her beloved husband, Larry Godfrey; her grandson, Christian Watkins; and her brother, Thomas Babineaux.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lovey Johns and Xanthe Johns; her brother, Carlton Babineaux; her grandchildren, Zana Jimenez, Alicia Cole, Kyla Watkins, and Octavia Burton; her great-grandchildren, Zaiden Jimenez, Lenyx Cole, and Noah Jimenez; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Marielia will be remembered for her strong faith, her dedication to serving others, her giving heart, her love of family, and the joy she brought into every room. Her family will forever treasure the memories, laughter, and love she shared throughout her life.
