Marjorie P.
Martin
April 28, 1940 – January 8, 2026
Marjorie Pearl Martin, 84, of Diboll and Coldspring, Texas passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 in Bryan, Texas. After fighting breast cancer, not once, but twice and having health complications that come with that along with pneumonia - her poor heart couldn’t take any more and God knew she needed rest.
Marjorie was 4th of 6 children born to James and Vela King in Tuscumbia, Alabama on April 28, 1940. She was raised by her mother and older sisters after losing her father in a tragic accident at just 8 years old & lived in Alabama until 1970 when she moved to Houston with her children to begin a new life. Marjorie led a life defined by love for her family. Marjorie married B.V. Martin, her true love, on Christmas Eve in 1979 and their combined families made for lots of family to love and enjoy. Her favorite home with B.V. was the home they made here in Coldspring on the river.
Marjorie’s biggest asset was her faith and her true belief that tomorrow was always going to be a better day. This was truly tested by the death of both of her beloved sons, Brian who died in 1985 at the age of 16 and then again in 2002 when at the age of 40, Rick passed away. Both died suddenly in tragic accidents that broke her heart. Through each hardship, through each death she survived, through each round of chemo she endured and everything in between, her faith and her sense of humor and her family is what sustained her and gave her the hope for a better tomorrow.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, James & Vela King; her siblings, Dorothy, Peggy, and Jimmy; her sons, Brian & Ricky Gullick and then in 2024 her beloved B.V. and in 2025 her dear brother-in-law, Ray Hodges. Marjorie is survived by her devoted daughters Shelaine (John) Moreno and Suzi (Roy) Ener; sons, Keith (Tammy) Martin, Kim (Paula) Martin, Kraig (Zee) Martin, & Glenn (Miko) Martin and daughter Stephanie Martin Tellez. She is also survived by her oldest sister, Mildred Hodges and her youngest brother, Buddy (Shirley) King and her very close sister-in-law, Tammy King and her much loved and cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request you make a donation to either the Cancer Research Institute or Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers - these are organizations that meant a lot to her.
