In Loving Memory of Mark Edward Langford, Sr.
June 9, 1956 – July 25, 2025
Mark Edward Langford, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2025, while doing what he loved most—fishing on the coast. A devoted husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, uncle Cutie, and friend, Mark lived a life of hard work, adventure, and deep love for his family and the outdoors.
Born in Houston, Texas, Mark spent his childhood exploring the outdoors, hunting and fishing alongside his family. During his high school years, he lived with his Uncle Bob and Aunt Gertrude Falkenbury to attend school in Navasota, where he graduated from Navasota High School in 1975.
In 1981, Mark married the love of his life, Alice Foxworth, in Evergreen, Texas. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter and were blessed with four sons. Mark worked as a dedicated and talented mechanic for more than 40 years—eight of those at Plains Machinery, and 33 at Sunbelt Rentals. Rain or shine, in sickness or in health, Mark showed up every day, a testament to his strength and resilience.
After retirement, he embraced the simple joys of life—fishing, hunting, and crafting custom knives and trinkets for those he loved. He was known to many as “Paw Paw,” a name spoken with affection not only by his grandchildren but by countless others whose lives he touched. Mark also loved journaling, often documenting his outdoor adventures, sharing wisdom, and even noting fun facts. One of his entries read:
“I love all of you, people I don’t even know… all God’s people.”
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Foxworth Langford; his son, Robert Benjamin Langford; his parents, Lloyd and Mattie Langford; and his cherished Uncle Bob and Aunt Gertrude Falkenbury.
He is survived by his sons and their wives: Mark Jr. & Laci Langford, Josh & Gina Langford, and Cody & Alexis Langford. He was a proud grandfather to Brent Langford, Haylie Langford, Creek Langford, Corbin Langford, River Langford, Tucker Langford, and Wesley Langford. Mark is also survived by his siblings: Lloyd & Debbie Langford, Sharon Langford-Simmons & Tim Wright, Bruce Simmons, and Brad & Sherri Langford; beloved mother-in-law: Gladys Foxworth, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
Mark Langford lived a life of grit, generosity, and heart. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, his stories, and the quiet strength he passed on to those he loved.
Services for Mark will be held on Friday, August 1st in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland with visitation at 1pm and his service at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of Mark’s favorite causes:
