Marsha Ann "Cricket" Manning

Marsha Ann "Cricket" Manning, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2024, in Huntsville, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Marsha, affectionately known as Cricket to her friends, was born on October 3, 1937, in Liberty, Texas, to her parents, George Herbert “Hub” Cameron and Rachel Draper Cameron. Throughout her life, Cricket cherished her roots in Cleveland, Texas, considering it "her town."

A devout member of the Methodist Church, Cricket was deeply involved in her community. She had most recently attended the Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas, where she relocated to be close to her son, Michael, and her grandchildren. Cricket's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family as she dedicated her career to nursing, specializing in caring for children. Her compassion knew no bounds, earning her the title of a second mother to many of Michael's friends as they grew up.

Cricket had an undeniable love for sports, particularly for the Astros and the Rockets. She even had the privilege of meeting Hakeem Olajuwon, a cherished memory she held dear. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching "Dancing with the Stars" and classic westerns like "Gunsmoke" and "The Virginian." Cricket's diverse interests also included a fascination with the Royal family and a passion for Professional Bull Riding, evidenced by the large cut-out of her favorite bull riders displayed proudly in her home.

Preceded in death by her parents and her beloved in-laws, Orrell and Winnie Manning, Cricket leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted son, Michael Manning, daughter-in-law, Donna Manning, sisters Jan Barrow (Hugh) and Sue Wright, sister-in-law Cindy Rollins (James), grandchildren Matthew and Moira Manning, nephew Jake Barrow (Erin) and their son Carter, nieces LeeAnn Dennis (Rickey) and their children Tori Nix and Anne Marie Dennis.
