Obituary for Martha Sue Strong Cummings

Martha Sue Strong Cummings, age 65, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025. Born on January 10, 1960, in Mena, Arkansas, Martha was the cherished daughter of Herbert James Cummings and Melverta Nash. She spent over 50 years in the Dayton community, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.

Martha was best known for her generous spirit and deep love for her family. She had a green thumb and took great joy in gardening and tending to her yard, always surrounded by blooming flowers. Her fondness for collecting decorative chickens brought charm to her home, and her love for shopping was a pastime she especially enjoyed. One of her favorite things to do was share a meal out with her beloved husband.

She was married for 45 years to the love of her life, Robert Strong, with whom she shared an enduring and beautiful partnership until his passing. Together they built a close-knit family that continues to honor their legacy of love and devotion.

Martha is survived by her loving mother, Peggy Hill; her daughter, Jessica Hyatt and husband Rick; her sons, Robert Strong and wife Shauna, and Joseph Strong and wife Christina. She also leaves behind her sister, Kathy Cummings; brothers Carl Cummings and wife Sharon, Roger Cummings, and Gary Cummings and wife Becky.

Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Brianna Sthram and husband Mikey, Memory Strong, Kiera Hyatt, Fable Strong, Shiloh Strong, Aria Strong, Sherlock Strong, and Kinsley Hyatt; and her great-granddaughter, Ophelia Sthram. Martha also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Strong; her father, Herbert Cummings; her brother, Jamie Cummings; and her stepfather, Finos Hill.

Martha's unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
