Mary Ann Newsom

Mary Ann Newsom was born August 10, 1953 in Navasota, Texas to parents, Harry West and Ida Mae West. She passed away September 28, 2025 at the age of 72. Mary Ann was employed by the Houston Chronicle for many years. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her and loved her. She was an easy going light hearted person. Mary Ann was kind and forgiving. She was known by many different names Mary Ann, Mom Aunt Mary, Grandma Mary and Miss Mary. You could talk to her about anything at anytime. She never judged anyone by anything other than their heart. She touched so many people’s life’s and loved them all in her own way. This is not good bye Mom, this is a see you later. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ida Mae West. She is survived by her beloved sons, David Newsom and James Newsom; beloved grandchildren, Brylee Newsom, Tobie Newsom, Tenly Newsom, and Bailey Newsom; beloved brothers, Samuel West and Gene West; beloved sister, Diana O’Neil; beloved nieces, Meredith West, Wendy Wright, Janet Long, Cynthia Harmon, Rachel Ramirez, and Roxann Skelton; beloved great-nieces, Krysta Hall, Marissa Ramirez and Divina Ramirez; beloved great-nephews, Justin Alexander and David King.
