Mathew Jay “Jaybird” Collins, 54 of Dayton died Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Baytown, Texas.
Services for Jaybird will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Gum Grove Baptist Church in Eastgate with Rev. Jeff Davis officiating.

Jay was born January 30, 1963 in Dayton, Texas to parents, Floyd Collins and Patricia Ford Collins. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton and had worked as a carpenter and welder. He loved being with his kids, fishing, gardening and his animals.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sharron Day Collins of Dayton; his son, Lee Bishop; daughters, Ashley Michelle and Destiney Nicole; brother, Fred Collins and wife Debbie; sisters, Sunnie Frye and Ed, Jonan Rogers, and Kristi Collins; grandchildren, Peyton Bishop and Presley Rae Evans; also numerous nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
