Michael Alton “Mike” Presswood, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 16, 2026, at the age of 84.
Mike was born on September 29, 1941, in Plum Grove, Texas, to Smokey and Dora Presswood. A lifelong resident of Cleveland, Texas, Mike built a life centered around hard work, family, friendship, and enjoying every moment he was given.
To know Mike was to love Mike. He truly loved people and loved life. He never met many strangers, and wherever Mike went, there was sure to be laughter, conversation, and a good time. He was always the life of the party and was happiest when he was on the go. You could often find him out on the road, traveling somewhere, enjoying one of his beloved old cars, or trying his luck at the casino. Sitting still simply wasn’t Mike’s way.
Mike was also one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet. Growing up, he worked in the family business, Presswood Packing, which he eventually took over. His strong work ethic was something he carried throughout his entire life and proudly passed along to his sons when they were young. Even after retirement, Mike never really stopped working. Right up until the day he passed away, he could always find a way to make a little money or stay busy. That was simply who Mike was.
As much as Mike enjoyed traveling, old cars, the casino, working, and having a good time, nothing was more important to him than the people he loved. His family and friends were at the heart of his life. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to so many. His larger-than-life personality, stories, laughter, and love for a good time created countless memories that his family and friends will carry with them forever.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Presswood; his sons, Seab Presswood and wife Diane, Scotty Presswood, and Cody Strickland; his daughter, Amber Strickland Adams; his grandchildren, Colby, Justin, Caelin, Caydence, McKenzie, and Maverick; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and a host of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Smokey and Dora Presswood, and his brother, Pat Presswood.
Mike lived his life his way—working hard, staying on the move, loving his family, enjoying his friends, and never passing up the chance for a good time. His was a life filled with stories worth telling and memories worth keeping.
There will never be another Mike Presswood. His presence will be deeply missed, his stories will continue to be told, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
