Obituary

Nellawyn Kay Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, in New Caney, Texas, at the age of 83. She was born on January 7, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to her loving parents, Howard and Oleta “Pete” Willis.

Nellawyn lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to those she held dear. She had a caring heart and a special way of making those around her feel loved and appreciated. Throughout her life, she found joy in the simple blessings, especially the love and laughter shared with her family. The memories made together, the stories told, and the moments spent surrounded by those she loved will forever remain treasured gifts.

For many years, Nellawyn worked as a school bus driver, a role that allowed her to be a part of the daily lives of countless children. Her dedication and caring nature were reflected in the responsibility she took in safely transporting the precious children entrusted to her care. It was more than just a job; it was another way she could make a difference in the lives of others.

Above all else, Nellawyn's greatest blessings were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The love of family was something truly special, and each generation brought new reasons to smile, new memories to cherish, and more love to fill her heart. Her family was a beautiful reflection of the life she lived and the love she leaves behind.

Nellawyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude Scott; her parents, Howard and Oleta “Pete” Willis; her precious great-grandchild, Layla Eden Holt; her sister, Candace Dethloff; and her first husband and father of her children, Kermitt Ginn.

She leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory her loving children, Cheryl Coleman, and David Ginn and his wife, Pam; her treasured grandchildren, Michelle Garner, Ryan Garner, Joshua Holt and his wife, Michelle, Matthew Holt and his wife, Shawna, Stephen Holt and his fiancée, Amie Strange, Michael Ginn and his wife, Cheyenna, Minerva Ginn, Katelyn Ginn, and David Morrow; and her precious great-grandchildren, Aiden Garner, Gavin Garner, Lincoln Garner, Conner Holt, Dominic Holt, Nate Carley, Paige Carley, Wyatt Broadright, Mattyson Holt, Presley Holt, Skylar Holt, Avery Holt, Carter Holt, Mercy Ginn, and Mira Ginn.

Though Nellawyn's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of those blessed to know her. Her family will carry her memory in the little things—a familiar story, a shared laugh, a special family gathering, or a quiet moment when they wish they could hear her voice just one more time.

A mother's love never truly leaves us. It becomes part of who we are, woven into our memories, our hearts, and the generations that follow. Nellawyn leaves behind a legacy of love that time can never erase. While she will be deeply missed, the beautiful memories she created and the love she shared will remain with her family forever.
