Patricia “Pattie” Katherine Matthews Crye July 26, 1949 – October 25, 2026

Patricia “Pattie” Katherine Matthews Crye, 77, passed away on October 25, 2026. She was born on July 26, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to her parents, Elbridge Calvin Matthews and Gladys Evelyn Hicks.

Pattie was a longtime resident of Tarkington, Texas, where she made her home for 50 years, and was formerly a resident of Pasadena, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith and a hardworking, dedicated woman who took pride in everything she did. Pattie worked as a chemical operator for Rohm and Haas until her retirement in 2008. Prior to that, she was employed by Armco Steel.

Pattie had a love for the simple things in life. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers, and keeping her yard neat and beautiful. She took great pride in her home and always made sure everything was just the way she liked it. She also had a passion for antiques and loved visiting garage sales, always on the lookout for a special treasure. Another joy in her life was caring for her beloved miniature Sicilian donkeys, which held a special place in her heart.

Above all, Pattie treasured her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making memories that they will carry with them forever. She shared her life with her loving husband, Tommy Jeffcoat, who had been by her side since 1987. Together, they built a life filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. Pattie will be remembered for her hardworking nature, her love of family, and the many little things that made her so special to those who knew her.

Pattie was preceded in death by her parents, Elbridge Calvin Matthews and Gladys Evelyn Hicks; her daughter, Shelley Denise Crye; and her granddaughter, Rylee Lynn Crye.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Tommy Jeffcoat; her son, Gene “Buba” Crye and wife Randi; her daughters, Lisa Spavale and husband Jim, and Cherie Singleton and husband Gary; her brothers, Jimmy Matthews and wife Della, and Bobby Matthews; her sister, Shirley Kittrell and husband Albert; her grandchildren, Jared Crye and wife Kallie, Hunter Crye and wife Kaylin, Andrew Spavale, Alison Middleton and husband Jonas, and Cameron Croft; and her great-grandchildren, Wesley Crye, Blakely Crye, and Maisie Crye; along with numerous other relatives and dear friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rural Shade Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rural Shade Baptist Church, with Phil Herrington officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Spavale, Gary Singleton, Jared Crye, Hunter Crye, Andrew Spavale, and Jonas Middleton.
