Ralph Rufus Craven, Jr., age 86, of Coldspring, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. Born on November 6, 1938, in Houston, Texas, Ralph was the beloved son of Ralph Rufus Sr. and Mildred Craven, who preceded him in death.
Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who poured his heart into his family. He was married to the love of his life, Gladys Craven, for 63 beautiful years until her passing. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong faith. He was also preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Belinda Bennight; sisters, Lucy and Billie Marie; brothers, Edward and Johnny; and son-in-law, Mark Westfall.
A man of deep faith, Ralph loved the Lord above all. He was known for his warm heart, steady hands, and tireless work ethic. Recently, he was honored with a gold watch celebrating 50 years of dedicated service to the Pipefitters Union Local 211—a testament to his perseverance and commitment.
Ralph had a special love for the outdoors. Whether fishing on a quiet morning or tending to his garden, he found joy in the simple beauty of nature. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by the ones he loved, and he was never too busy to lend a hand or share a story.
Ralph’s legacy lives on through his loving children: Julie Craven-Westfall, “Bubba” Ralph R. Craven, III and Vera, Tracy Diane Craven, and Allen Bennight and wife Wanda. He is also survived by his treasured grandchildren: Tiffany, Josh, Jennifer, Jason, Alicia, Ronnie, Skye, Mike, Shane, Tommie, and Jacob; great-grandchildren: Blake, Madison, Dylan, Caiden, Brook, Everett, Matthew, Gage, Nevaeh, Malachi, Ally, Ayven, Brantley, and Emmitt; and great-great-grandchild: Kaisley. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Ralph Rufus Craven, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering love, quiet strength, and the faith that carried him through life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 5-8pm. Ralph's funeral is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11 am in the Pace-Stancil Chapel. Burial will follow in Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.
