Ralph Paul "Bama" Etress, 50, of Dayton, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Bama was born January 20, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents; Ernest E, Sr. and Polly Ann McDaniel Etress, a former resident of LaPorte, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 14 years. He was a graduate of the Pascagoula High School, a former Westlake and Old River Volunteer Firefighter, former employee of Zachary, and was a pipefitter and crane operator by trade. He also enjoyed fishing, riding bikes, and kayaking.
Mr. Etress was preceded in death by his daughter: Ashley Ann Nicole Etress and father: Ernest E. Etress, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Mandy Dickey Etress of Dayton, daughters: Kayla Etress of Dayton and Lisa McKnight of Dayton, mother: Polly Ann McDaniel Etress of Dayton, sister: Rene Etress Smith of Dayton, brother: Ernest E. Etress, Jr. and wife Lucila of Carrizo Springs, special niece: Athea Davis, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
