Richard Dean Cowen

Richard Dean Cowen, 61, passed away on March 15, 2026. He was born on June 8, 1964, in Lovington, New Mexico, to Kenneth J. Cowen and Janet Mae Webb, both of whom preceded him in death.

Richard was a longtime resident of Huffman, Texas, where he lived for more than 30 years. Richard attended Providence Community Church in Atascocita and was a man who truly enjoyed life and the people around him. He spent his free time working with cows on his ranch, loved working outdoors and fishing, and enjoyed experiencing many cultures while traveling internationally for work.

A man known for his strong work ethic and warm personality, Richard began his career painting pump jacks and, through dedication and determination, worked his way up to President of OG Supply. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built along the way.

Richard had a gift for making anyone he spoke with smile and laugh. His joy was infectious and his authenticity was admirable. He made everyone feel welcome in his home and heart. He was generous with his time and love. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to a neighbor, friend, family member, or stranger in need. He was the type of person you wanted to lean on in times of trouble, and to celebrate alongside in moments of joy. His presence brought comfort and his lightheartedness brought peace. He was truly cherished by those who knew him, both deeply and briefly. His selfless actions inspired many to live and love more fully.

Above all, Richard loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, father, and soon-to-be grandfather who took great pride in his children and cherished the life he built with his wife.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lena Cowen; his sons, Kenneth Jack Cowen and wife Peace, John Robert Cowen and wife Allie, and Luke Richard Cowen and wife Dulce; his sister, Kristie Stephens and husband Mike; his aunt, Nancy Raymond and husband Mike; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. He was also joyfully anticipating the arrival of his first grandbaby.
