Richard Darryl Hughes, 68, of Liberty, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Cooke Memorial Cemetery in Liberty. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Richard was born April 22, 1948 in Houston, to parents; Mearl D. Hughes and Kitty L. Teague, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Liberty for the past three years. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, member of the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621, and a master plumber by trade. He also enjoyed fishing, barbecues, and working in his yard.
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years: Dorothy E. Brecheen Hughes, mother: Kitty L. Teague Perez, father: Mearl D. Hughes, and brother: James Hughes. He is survived by his daughter: Rachel Stiers and husband Bill of Liberty, sons: Darryl Hughes of Dayton and Mark Hughes and wife Jennifer of Rockwall, brother: Floyd Hughes and wife Lori of California, sisters: Sharon Grantham of Ft. Worth and Eva Morton of Houston, grandchildren: Tori and husband Dale, Cody, Tucker, Luke, Hunter, and Oliver, great-granddaughter: Honey, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
