Richard Eugene Ploch Sr., 79, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026.

Richard was born on May 23, 1947, in Pleasanton, Texas, to Gene Ploch and Jimmie Ray Hill Ploch. He made Dayton his home for the past 50 years and was a faithful member of Eastgate Church, where he lived a life devoted to serving the Lord. Richard’s faith was the foundation of his life. His greatest priorities were his relationship with Jesus Christ and his beloved wife, Linda, who remained the love of his life throughout their 56 years of marriage until her passing in 2024.

Richard retired from Exxon after many years of dedicated service as an inspector. In retirement, he and Linda cherished traveling together, creating countless memories and enjoying the life they built side by side. Richard was known for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, and steadfast love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Jimmie Ploch; his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda Sue Ploch; his son, Richard Eugene Ploch Jr.; and his son-in-law, Justin Godbold.

Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Lori Ploch; his sister, Janice Hairston and husband, Carey; his grandchildren, Raelynn Ploch and fiancé, Mike, Payton Ploch, and Chase Fayle; and his great-grandchildren, Austyn Ploch and River Hammond, along with many extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Eastgate Church in Dayton, Texas. A celebration of Richard’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Rick Doran. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton.

Richard’s legacy of faith, love, humility, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. His family finds comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his Savior, his beloved Linda, and those who went before him, and that his life was a testimony to God’s grace and everlasting promise.
