Obituary for Robert (Bobby) Wayne Johns

Robert (Bobby) Wayne Johns, 69, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1956, to parents David Johns and Helen Stoker.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of unwavering faith, Bobby lived in Dayton for the past 31 years, having previously called North Shore, Cleveland, and Shepherd home. He was a longtime member of Encounter Church in Raywood, Texas, where his commitment to his faith was evident to all who knew him.

Bobby was married to the love of his life, Misty Johns, for 48 years. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising six children and creating a home filled with values of hard work, love, and dedication. He was a skilled carpenter and framer by trade—a man whose hands could build anything, and whose word was always his bond. There was no structure he couldn’t raise, and no promise he left unfulfilled.

Known as a workaholic, Bobby passed on his work ethic to his sons and daughters, often getting them up early on Saturdays to join him on job sites. Though stern, he had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He was a true protector—of his faith, his wife, and his children—and was a steady, guiding force in the lives of those around him. He embodied what it meant to be the leader of a family.

Bobby especially cherished the Christmas season. It was his favorite time of year, and he always made sure that each family member received a gift that was meaningful and special.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Helen; his brother, Mark Johns; and his sister-in-law, Toni Johns.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Misty Johns; sons, Robert Wayne Johns Jr. (Cassandra), William Anthony Johns (Rene), and James Andrew Johns (Stephanie); daughters, Marie Melvina LaBorde (Lonnie Gene), Kerry Ann Johns, and Randi Lynn Carter (David); brothers, Bruce Johns Sr. and Wesley Johns; sister, Penney Russell; grandchildren, Tina Laci-Marie, Amanda, Kaitlinn, Cerise, Pepper, Sidney, Robert III, Jacob, Luke, Mikell, Skylynn, Leonna, Jayden, and Hazel; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Zion, Hayden, and Hazel; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A celebration of Life service for Bobby’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Encounter Church in Raywood, Texas, with Fellowship beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Delmar Lee Coward will officiate.

Bobby Johns will be remembered for his strength, faith, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched.
