Rodney Doran Lee, 73, of Liberty passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Liberty. He was born December 10, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas to his late parents, Doran Lee and Marylena Clark Lee.
Rodney, a Vietnam Army Veteran, served two tours in Vietnam. He served in the United States Army and was granted honorable discharge at the rank of Sargent, as a Tank Commander in the 2nd Squadron of the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment with the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal 2 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Civil Action Honor Medal.
Rodney retired as a maintenance planner from ExxonMobil after 20 plus years. He was born and raised in and around Beaumont, Texas, but lived the remainder of his life in Liberty, for the last 36 years, having previously lived in Mont Belvieu and Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Willie Ray Carnegie and the son he never had, Brett Hall.
Survivors include: wife of 52 years, Kathy Lee; daughter, Jennifer McNew and her husband, Matthew; daughter, Jessy Lee and her companion, Britt Walters; granddaughter, Kate McNew; sister, Dorothy Jean Dickey and her husband, Kirk; brother-in-law, Mike Gray; sister-in-law, Melissa Gray; brother-in-law, Kelly Gray and his wife, Michelle; nieces and nephews, Deanne Ienna; Melanie Tipton; Jammie Thedford and her husband, Toby; Jill Perkins and her husband, Robert; Kamie Carnegie and her companion, John Stein; Michael Carnegie and his wife, Jessica; Clifton Carnegie; Baillie Gray; and Andi Johnson and her husband, Dylan.
Visitation/Celebration of Life will be Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with military honors to be performed at 6:30 p.m., all at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
