Obituary for Ronnie Joe Brothers

Ronnie Joe Brothers, age 71, of Inez, Texas, passed away on May 22, 2025. Born December 4, 1953, in Houston, Texas, to Billy Benjamin Brothers, Sr. and Margaret Helen Guin, Ronnie grew up in Dayton, Texas, and proudly graduated from Dayton High School with the Class of 1972.

A man of deep work ethic and even deeper humor, Ronnie began selling tractors while still in high school—an industry he dedicated himself to for the next 56 years. Most recently, he served as an inventory control manager at Shoppas, following a long career as a John Deere salesman. He was known for his tireless dedication to his work, often joking that few things beat a day spent riding his John Deere tractor or lawn mower. Whether it was stress relief or sheer enjoyment, those green machines were among his favorite companions.

Ronnie was a passionate collector of John Deere toys and a master of the barbeque pit. He loved participating in cook-offs and building BBQ pits himself. A natural jokester, Ronnie found joy in laughter, often teasing friends and family with his signature wit. He cherished time spent with people and made it a point to leave everyone smiling.

Of all his joys in life, the most cherished were the memories made with his sons and the love he shared with his wife of 52 years, Patricia. Their life together spanned across Sour Lake, Navasota, and eventually Inez, where they made their home for the past 13 years.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steven Brothers; and his brother, Gary Brothers. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Brothers; son, Scotty Wayne Brothers; brothers Billy Brothers and wife Denise, Jerry Brothers and wife Gosia, W.T. Brothers and wife Rosemary; sister Chris Bartz and husband Bill; granddaughter Dusti Aguiar and husband Frank; great-granddaughter Eliana Aguiar; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Palms Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. Pastor Harvey Drake will officiate the service.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Brothers, W.T. Brothers, Frank Aguiar, M.J. Brothers, Aidan Humphrey, and Chris Bartz, Thomas Michael Hroch, John Jacob Hroch. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Brothers and Bill Bartz.

Ronnie’s hardworking spirit, contagious laughter, and love for his family and friends will be remembered always. His legacy rides on, just like the hum of his favorite John Deere.
