With full and grateful hearts, we celebrate the life of a remarkable man, a loving father, proud grandfather, and a soul who found pure joy in the simple, beautiful things. Roy Dean Goad, age 69, passed away on December 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable moments outdoors.

From the time he was young, music was his constant companion. Whether he was singing along to his favorite songs, sharing new tunes with his friends, or turning the band room into a mini concert, where the whole neighborhood could hear, he had a natural way of filling ordinary days with melody and warmth. His love of music was never just a hobby, it was his way of connecting deeply with the people he loved.

He was also happiest with a rod in his hand or a rifle slung over his shoulder. Hunting and fishing weren’t just pastimes for him; they were traditions, stories, and memories in the making. Some of his proudest moments were spent in the stillness of early mornings on the lake or walking through the woods alongside the people who mattered most. He passed down not only the skills, but the reverence, the appreciation for quiet sunrises, patient waiting, and the peace that comes from being surrounded by nature.

But more than anything, he loved people, especially his family, even those that became family over the years. Being surrounded by them was his greatest joy. He never rushed a conversation and never turned down a chance to sit, listen, and take in everyone’s stories. Whether the tales were funny, heartfelt, or just everyday updates, he treasured each one. Listening was his way of showing love, and he made everyone feel heard, understood, and important.

His grandkids were the brightest part of his world. They brought out his biggest smiles and softest moments, and he cherished every laugh, hug, and memory with them. Being “PopPop” was one of the greatest honors of his life.

Those he leaves behind will carry his spirit in every song they hear, every cast they make, every story shared, and every cherished memory he gave them. 

Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the incredible life he lived and the love he shared so freely. His story will continue in the lives of his friends and family, and in the music, woods, and warm gatherings he enjoyed so much.

Roy Dean is survived by his wife, Kristine Annan Goad; children, Roy Goad II and wife Erin Hawthorne, Ashley Goad Brockner and husband Tyler, and Mark Barnett Jr and wife Kristin Leigh; grandchildren, Hunter Lee Barnett, Colt Wayne Barnett, Donald Lansing Goad (Lance), Addilyn Dean Brockner, and Cameron Paul Brockner; along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Beatrice Jolin Goad; his brothers Larry Goad, Bill Goad, and Andrew Goad; and his sisters Helen Goad Cleveland and Barbara Goad.
