Sandra Toler Malone departed from this life to her heavenly homecoming on September 23, 2026. Sandra was born on August 25, 1942, in Cleveland, TX to parents Glendon Dawkins Toler of Dayton, Texas and June Stancil Toler of Dayton, Texas. Sandra’s parents had relocated to Liberty County from Farmerville, Louisiana to join June’s family, J.W. Stancil and Lillie Pace Stancil in the operation of their family business, Pace Stancil Funeral Home. Family and the business were central to the Toler family and Sandra was born across the street from the business’ original Cleveland location, while her younger brother “Bubba” (Glendon, Jr.) was born two years later in the family’s residence located above the Cleveland Funeral Home.

The Tolers relocated their young family to Dayton in 1945 when Pace Stancil opened a third location. They quickly developed strong roots in the community with Sandra graduating from Dayton High School in 1960. During her high school years Sandra played the coronet in the band, served as the Class of ‘60 Class President and was named Ms. DHS. The Toler home became the “gathering place” for their children’s classmates and friends and Sandra had countless stories about her years growing up in Dayton surrounded by family, friends and the close-knit community.

In the fall of 1960, Sandra joined 2 of her 3 life-long best friends in attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Although she loved her time at Baylor, she missed being near her family and transferred to the University of Houston her sophomore year. During her time at U of H, Sandra joined Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and, while building a Homecoming Float, met Pat Malone of El Paso, Texas. The two began dating during their college years and Pat developed close relationships with the Toler family. The two shared many visits to Dayton for holidays and celebrations where Sandra’s mother June famously made “everything feel special.”

Sandra married Pat on June 27, 1964 at First Baptist Church of Dayton following her graduation with a degree in Home Economics from U of H. The couple lived in Houston while Pat completed his degree while Sandra began her professional career working at Foley’s in downtown Houston. In 1966, Sandra and Pat relocated to Cleveland, Texas where Pat served as the Director of the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce and Sandra began her teaching career at Cleveland High School. In 1966, Sandra gave birth to the couple’s first child, Patrick Lawrence Malone, Jr. Sandra continued working in Cleveland schools and eventually became a full-time homemaker. In 1977, the family welcomed their second child, Patricia Kellie Malone. In 1978, the Malones relocated to Austin, Texas when Pat had the opportunity to join the Texas Savings & Loan league. Sandra deeply loved their time in Austin where she was continuously involved in Pat, Jr. and Kellie’s school activities at Hyde Park School. In 1985, the family moved to Dallas, Texas following Pat, Jr.’s graduation from High School and an opportunity for Pat to continue his career in Finance. During this time Sandra continued her involvement in PTA and embraced becoming a Baylor Mom. These opportunities both gave her many reasons to demonstrate her love of entertaining and share her unmatched culinary abilities! She also embraced involvement at Prestonwood Baptist Church where she enjoyed Bible Study and utilized her gift of hosting.

In 1988, Sandra and family moved back to Cleveland, Texas where she worked at both Tarkington High School and Cleveland High School through Kellie’s time at Baylor University. Sandra concluded her career in education working for the Texas Department of Agriculture monitoring compliance for school Food Service across Region VI of the state.

Post-retirement, Sandra moved to College Station to be close to her daughter who works at Texas A&M University. Together, they travelled to Dallas, Texas often to enjoy time with Pat, Jr., his wife Angela, and their two children Foster and Caroline. Her visits created so many cherished memories for Foster and Caroline, who lovingly called her Mimi. They especially remember time spent baking and cooking together, making sweet treats, and being spoiled with thoughtful gifts. Those happy moments together will always be treasured.

Sandra also took on a role at First Baptist of Bryan, Texas where she worked planning and hosting events at the church, including weekly Wednesday night meals following Bible Study and special events. Her gift of making others feel welcome and creating spaces where people could fellowship was truly a blessing that she loved to share. Her children’s friends quickly became irreplaceable adopted family who remained close throughout Sandra’s life. If you were ever hosted by Sandra, it was an experience that stayed in your heart and mind. Her family is so grateful for the many memories of Sandra as a host, a chef, and a mother who loved them with unmatched abundance.

Throughout her life, Sandra had a passion for travel and shared this great passion with both Pat and her children. Vacations ranged from trips to Mexico City and the mountains of Colorado, to Southern California, Hawaii, New York City, and Washington D.C., cruises and adventures in Europe. Each location held new adventures and culinary experiences. There was not a city that Sandra went to where she didn’t find a local grocery store where she could get lost for hours. Many return trips included packing up her found food treasures and getting them back home! Once back in Texas, she would often set about recreating a dish or a menu that she experienced. A trait she passed on to both of her children!

Sandra’s love for her family and her faith in Jesus Christ were deep, fierce, and true. Her family will dearly miss her soft voice, her kind heart, and her unconditional love, but rejoice in the blessings of her heavenly reunion with her Lord and Savior, as well as those family and dear friends who wait on the other side of Heaven. She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and June, her brother, Bubba, her ex-husband Pat, her grandparents (J.W. Stancil, Lillie Pace Stancil, Jim Toler and Mae Toler), her Aunt and uncle (Mary Toler Rabun and John Ed Rabun) and her Great-Great-Nephew Max Hall.

Funeral services will be held at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception to be held in her honor immediately following.

Sandra is survived by her son, Patrick L. Malone, Jr. and wife Angela of Dallas; her daughter, Patricia Kellie Malone of College Station (along with her Grand-Dog Guinny); Grandchildren, Patrick L. Malone, III (Foster), and wife Maggie of Fort Worth, and Caroline Lillie Malone of Dallas; and Great-Granddaughter Amelia Lynlee Malone (Amy Lee) of Fort Worth Texas, born to parents Maggie and Foster shortly after Midnight on September 23.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Cox Toler of Dayton; Nieces Kristen Toler Brosey (Dan), and Kimber Toler Hinch (Wes); Nephew Daniel Toler (Amy); Great-Nieces, Hannah Hinch Devries (Alex), Hailey Brosey Hall (Collin), and Emma Brosey; Great-Nephews, William Brosey, Jack Hinch, and Dawkins Toler; Great-Great-Nephew, Shepherd Hall. She will also live on in the heart of numerous friends who became family over her 84 years, including: Jay and Kristy O’Conner, and their children Katie and Jason and Mollie and Stephen Leavins and their children, Avery, Carter, and Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Pat Malone, Jr., Foster Malone, Jay O’Conner, Tim Tucker, Stephen Leavins, and Wes Hinch.
