In Loving Memory of Sheila Kay Brooks
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sheila. Though words can hardly convey the depth of our loss, we gather here to honor a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished.
Sheila Kay Brooks passed away on September 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by loved ones and in true Sheila fashion, gracefully and peacefully. She was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and unwavering love and support throughout her life.
Sheila was born on November 12, 1967, in Liberty, TX to father Jimmy Ray Pouncey Sr and mother May Dell McAdams. She is survived by her husband, Keith Brooks; her daughters, Keisha Collier and husband CW; Lacrissa Brooks and partner Clayton Luman; grandchildren, Olivia Collier, Avery Brooks, Hayden Luman, Caleb Luman and Mattie Luman.
Sheila's one true passion in life, next to God, was her family. The love she had for her high school sweetheart and husband of 40 years was unmatched. She raised two beautiful daughters whom she bragged and doted on constantly. She was most proud of her two granddaughters, who called her Mimi, whom she loved unconditionally and could do no wrong in her eyes. She also held her son in high regard and loved him as her own and she was soon to gain another, whom we know she would have loved the same. Sheila will be remembered for her infectious laughter, compassionate heart, and the countless lives she touched with generosity and wisdom.
She will also be remembered for the pretty dresses she wore to church, along with her dainty gloves and little bags. She loved serving the Lord and did so in many ways, including teaching many kids in Sunday school. She loved to garden and was always walking around pruning, "propagating" and tending to everyone's plants. Sheila enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. She loved going to the library and the smell of books. She was always up for an adventure, especially if it was outdoors and if you stopped to eat, she always had to try your food.
She loved being around family and friends, she was always up for the weeklong "gab fests" with her aunts and cousins. She loved her adopted daughter Blanche and son Donnie along with their families. Also, her many nieces and nephews and their families. No one felt unwelcome or unloved in her presence.
A memorial to celebrate Sheila's remarkable life will be held on October 11, 2025, at her home, beginning at 1 pm. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in remembrance.
The family kindly requests that flowers be brought or sent for her memorial. She loved all pretty flowers, and her girls want to make it beautiful for their Momma and Mimi.
Sheila's legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will remain in our hearts forever. If you knew Sheila at all you know that she is resting with our Lord in Heaven and will be watching over us.
