Sue Ellen Herndon

Sue Ellen Herndon, a loving homemaker and passionate traveler, passed away on June 15, 2023, in Dayton, Texas at the age of 81. She was born on July 2, 1941, in Mont Belvieu, Texas, to her parents Wheeler Carter and Effie McDaniel Carter.

Sue dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her loved ones. She found immense joy in exploring new places and embarked on numerous adventures throughout her life. Some of her most cherished memories were made during her trips to Hawaii, Reno, Las Vegas, and other beautiful destinations. However, her fondest moments were shared with her husband, Truman, as they embarked on fishing excursions at Lake Livingston. Sue was a nature enthusiast and loved spending time outdoors, tending to her yard and garden. Apart from her love for travel and gardening, Sue had a deep appreciation for the thrill and excitement of rodeos. She delighted in watching the daring performances and displays of skill. Her joyful spirit and zest for life were evident in everything she did.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Wheeler and Effie Carter, as well as her sister, Karen Dunn. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Truman Herndon, her son, Kevin Yarbrough, her daughter, Melinda Ellen Kimmey; her beloved grandchildren, Melanie Kimmey Auld, Kristopher Kimmey, Blake Yarbrough and Lindsey Yarbrough; great-grandchildren, Kenner Auld, Hunter Auld, Sayler Auld, Keiyan Yarbrough, Kylan Haynes and Karmyn Wallace.
