Susan Harwell, 77, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1948, in Baytown, Texas, to Matthew and Bertie Wilson.
Above all, Susan loved being a mother. Her children were her everything, and she poured her heart into being the best mom she could be. She adored her grandchildren, Dane Lowry and Lauren Lowry, who were her pride and joy, along with her beloved bonus grandchild, Kaelie Torres. They were the center of her world, and she never missed a chance to share how much they meant to her.
Susan was brave, strong, and a fighter throughout her battle and in life. She faced challenges with courage and grace, teaching her children and grandchildren by example how to be resilient and strong.
She also had a zest for life and a playful spirit. She loved to dance and would happily “get down and boogie,” especially when Soul Train was on. She had a sweet tooth, with vanilla ice cream topped with strawberries and a stack of pancakes being among her favorite treats. Many of her happiest moments were spent on the front porch with her sisters and family, coffee in hand, sharing stories and laughter.
Known for her impeccable organization, Susan believed everything had its place. She could spend hours browsing the Container Store or the Tupperware aisle, always excited to discover new ways to stay neat and tidy. She was also fond of QVC, often delighting in the latest gadgets. At home, she took great pride in keeping her house clean, orderly, and filled with warmth. Her green thumb made her yard a source of beauty and joy.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guidance through all seasons.
Susan also carried fond childhood memories, including the joy of her first pair of red shoes and the laughter (and trouble) that came when she and her sisters dared her to let a goat loose in the house at age six — only for it to run straight into her mother’s bed. Shopping was another passion of hers — she could spend hours strolling through stores, sometimes leaving empty-handed, but always enjoying the time, especially when she shopped alongside her daughters.
Susan is survived by her children, Brenda Nieto, Bill Harwell, and Keriann Lowry; her grandchildren, Dane Lowry and Lauren Lowry; her bonus grandchild, Kaelie Torres; and her siblings, Martha Walker, Linda Cates, Jeanne Belcher, and Realie Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Bertie Wilson, her sister Mary Harless, and her brother Arlie Logan.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 5th, from 3:00–4:00 p.m. for family and 4:00–6:00 p.m. for friends at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. A service celebrating Susan’s life will follow on Monday, October 6th, at 2:00 p.m in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland. Burial will follow Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington.
Susan will be remembered for her love of family, her joyful spirit, her faith, her bravery, and her unwavering devotion to those she cherished most.
