Sylvia Ann Kinney January 21, 1935 – August 26, 2025
Sylvia Ann Kinney, 90, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Liberty. Born on January 21, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to Allen and Thelma Corser, Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Liberty and a beacon of generosity, faith, and fierce loyalty to all who knew her.
Sylvia was a devout Christian who lived her faith through service, love, and unshakable conviction. She was a dedicated member of both North Main Baptist Church in Liberty and First Baptist Church in Dayton, where she remained extremely active throughout her life. Her commitment to her community extended well beyond the church walls — she volunteered in prison ministry at the visitation center and was a familiar face at the “Sit and Fit” classes held at the Dayton library.
Known for being truthful to a fault and a fierce friend, Sylvia never hesitated to stand up for what she believed in and was always there for those in need. She spent many years caring for both family and friends with a generosity that knew no bounds.
Sylvia was a proud educator, teaching for many years in Hardin ISD and eventually retiring from Dayton ISD. She touched countless lives through her dedication to education and her love for her students.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Thelma Corser, and her great-grandson, Lane Ellis Jones.
Sylvia is survived by her loving children: sons Stephen Kinney and wife Toni, Terrell Kinney; and daughter Karole Seay. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Kimberly Kay Jones and husband Dorsey, Kara Michelle Dentler and husband Harrison, Kristina Nicole Garcia and husband Cameron, Adam Jude Kinney, Tara Ann Shannon, Erica Jo Maggio and husband Eric, Madison Dawn Jackson, Allen Ray Seay, Sarah Elizabeth Reeves and husband Curtis, and Michael Austin Seay. Her legacy continues through her 18 beloved great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Allen Seay, Michael Seay, Curtis Reeves, Adam Kinney, Dorsey Jones, Eric Maggio, Harrison Dentler, and Cameron Garcia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Gary Downey will officiate.
Sylvia Ann Kinney leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, friendship, and family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
