Sylvia Torrez was born on February 17, 1957, in Wharton, Texas. Her grandchildren lovingly called her Mima, a unique name, because “grandma” was far too ordinary for such a wonderful woman. Mima carried a deep love for her family, but her heart never healed from the loss of her son, Rudy. It is believed that God gently called her home on January 23, 2026, to reunite her with him. She was surrounded by her loved ones until the very last beat of her beautiful heart.

She leaves behind her loving daughters, Sherry and Diana; her son, Carlos; and her son in-laws, Rey and Raul, along with their respective children, who will forever carry her love, strength, and memory in their hearts.

Mima cherished her morning car rides with Sherry, while on the phone with Diana, as she enjoyed her favorite Starbucks order, a hot white chocolate mocha paired with a ham and Swiss croissant.

There was nothing Mima loved more than the holidays surrounded by her family. A few days before celebrations, she would go to Diana’s house to help prepare the food. Together, she and Diana lovingly cooked for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners. Although she wasn’t very fond of the cold weather, she cherished being outdoors by the campfire, wrapped in warmth and laughter, surrounded by her closest grandchildren.

Mima found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life. She loved spending time with her plants outside, letting the sunshine warm her face. She had a kind heart for animals, feeding stray dogs and rescuing them whenever she could. She enjoyed watching her novelas and rarely went on a car ride without her beloved dog, Betico, by her side. She loved sunny days and preferred warmth over the cold.

On the weekends, to get away from the fast-paced environment of Houston, Mima would go past city limits and enjoy a weekend in nature and its tranquility at her daughter’s house, Diana. Here she would spend time with her grandchildren, telling them stories of her endeavors and more.

As a faithful member of Iglesia Advenimiento del Séptimo Día Los Tres Angeles. Not one Saturday was missed where she was not the first to help organize and greet all of her brothers and sisters in God. Her church was her home away from home.

For more than 15 years, she has worked closely with business clients. From the ground up she built her reputation and name as a self-employed trusted residential cleaner. She grew close with all her clients and was deeply respected and treated like family, but most importantly, was able to build unique, heartwarming relationships.

We kindly ask our guests to wear white, a symbol of purity and peace, as we honor a beautiful soul entering heaven. It does not need to be entirely white, a simple white blouse or shirt is a gentle way to take part.

Sylvia Torrez nació el 17 de Febrero de 1957 en Wharton, Texas. Sus nietos la llamaban cariñosamente Mima, un nombre único, porque “abuela” era demasiado común para una mujer tan extraordinaria. Mima llevaba en su corazón un amor profundo e inquebrantable por su familia, aunque nunca sanó del todo la pérdida de su hijo, Rudy. Se cree que Dios la llamó suavemente a Su presencia el 23 de enero de 2026, para reunirse nuevamente con él. Estuvo rodeada de sus seres queridos hasta el último latido de su hermoso corazón.

Le sobreviven con amor sus hijas, Sherry y Diana; su hijo, Carlos; y sus hiernos, Rey y Raul, junto con sus respetados hijos, quienes llevarán por siempre su amor, fortaleza y memoria en sus corazones.

Mima atesoraba sus paseos matutinos en auto con Sherry, muchas veces mientras hablaba por teléfono con Diana, disfrutando de su orden favorita de Starbucks: un chocolate blanco caliente acompañado de un croissant de jamón y queso suizo.

No había nada que Mima amara más que las celebraciones rodeada de su familia. Días antes de cada festejo, acudía a la casa de Diana para ayudar a preparar la comida. Juntas cocinaban con amor las cenas de Acción de Gracias y Nochebuena. Aunque no le agradaba el frío, disfrutaba estar al aire libre junto a la fogata, envuelta en calor y risas, rodeada de sus nietos más cercanos.

Mima encontraba alegría en los momentos simples y hermosos de la vida. Le encantaba pasar tiempo cuidando sus plantas al aire libre, dejando que el sol calentara su rostro. Tenía un corazón bondadoso con los animales; alimentaba a perros de la calle y los rescataba siempre que podía. Disfrutaba ver sus novelas y también salía a pasear a su amado perro, Betico, a su lado. Amaba los días soleados y siempre prefería el calor sobre el frío.

Los fines de semana, para alejarse del ritmo acelerado de Houston, Mima viajaba más allá de los límites de la ciudad para disfrutar de la tranquilidad de la naturaleza en la casa de su hija Diana. Allí compartía tiempo con sus nietos, contándoles historias de su vida, sus experiencias y sus aventuras.

Como fiel miembro de la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día Los Tres Ángeles, como diaconisa amaba estar temprano los Sábados. Siempre con una sonrisa dispuesta a ayudar a organizar y a recibir con cariño a sus hermanos y hermanas en Cristo. Su iglesia era verdaderamente su segundo hogar.

Durante más de 15 años, Mima trabajó de cerca con clientes comerciales, construyendo desde cero su reputación como limpiadora residencial independiente y de confianza. Hizo relaciones profundas y significativas con sus clientes, quienes la respetaban, la trataban como familia y valoraban tan especial que creó con cada uno de ellos.

Pedimos amablemente a nuestros invitados que vistan de blanco, símbolo de pureza y paz, mientras honramos a una hermosa alma que entra al cielo. No es necesario vestir completamente de blanco; una blusa o camisa blanca es una manera sencilla y respetuosa de participar.
